The rest of summer

I finally took the time to update our blog! And I must say I get more impressed with myself every time. This will be great for those of you interested in following our lives, you will only need to check in monthly instead of spending time daily or even weekly. Consider it a favor, I had all of you in mind when I decided to wait so long between postings. By all of you I mean the three people that look at our blog, myself included. So here are some shots of how the rest of summer played out.

We spent more time in Pine Valley. Anything to avoid the heat at home. As you can see from our hiking pictures that Kortney is a real outdoors type girl. Being the attentive mother that I am, I didn't notice until we got there that she had chosen to sport her lovely tropical dress for our rugged hike. We were also thrilled to have her white stuffed dog along for the hike. I came to his rescue about half way into the day when I found him lying in the dirt. He is now a lovely brown color.

We were able to spend some time at the lake this year with our friends the Langstons. We had a blast and are so glad to have friends with a boat. Greg, Ellie and I were all able to have our first experience on the wakeboard. Kortney did some cliff jumps and tried the tube. Payton loved being on the boat and playing on the beach. I do have to say that I haven't ever laughed so hard as being on the tube with Kerry. I have also never been so sore the next day. Ellie has no fear, our friend Ken decided it's because she can't wear her glasses and so has no idea of the sheer terror that is in front of her. Thanks Langstons we loved it!

Kerry and I took the kids up Beaver Mountain to 4H camp. Those of you who know both Kerry and I realize this means Kerry took the kids and I camping. Despite the packing up, unpacking, setting up tents in the dark, lack of sleep, taking down, loading up and unpacking again, it turned out to be a great time. (I am so thankful for the cabin) Ellie really enjoyed her first time camping in a tent. She had fun with her friends and we had a great time together at the dance. Kerry and I even got prizes for being the best dancers, I guess doing Zumba all week is good for something. I almost won the limbo contest. I lost to a little 4 foot nothing 11 year old. You would think they would do age or height brackets to even things out. Don't think I won't complain before next year. Ellie got initiated into 4H by Chief Uga Booga, canoed, learned dances, and went on a scavenger hunt to find Kerry and I who had been kidnapped by the cannibals. Kerry and I also got to spend some quality time together in the canoe, reading and just hanging out.

Ellie and Kortney are back in school. I can't believe summer is over. Payton is missing them during the day and isn't sure how to entertain herself. I must admit I am missing them a little as well. I thought that would take longer to kick in. They had a great first week all seems to be going well.

That sums it up, so happy days until next month.

The blessing of technology is so marvelous for this grandmother! I deem it a gift to live so close; yet seeing this beautiful documentation of the events in my granddaughters' lives adds another dimension! Thank you Marti Grma Norma

Okay, I don't know if this is a good thing or not but I know the two of you way too well...and I can confidently say that Greg has been screwing with the playlist again. Greg - hands off the playlist or I will take my kiss back that I offered just above Grandma Norma. Actually, just kidding, I think you and I like more of the same stuff than Marti and I do these days. Nice job on the Robert Plant Thank You - I sat here on the blog just to finish listening.

Corb, Thank you was all me. Actually he hasn't touched the playlist since the first go around. Greg also wants me to tell you we are making out right now. I can multi-task really well.

Tell Greg that you and I are also making out right now. I can multi-task AND do it 300 miles away...he's going to have to top that if he wants you all to himself :)
