Hiking the Subway

Below are some pictures of Greg and I hiking the Subway with some friends. You can see in some of the pics why it's called the Subway. It is a breathtaking 9.5 mile hike in Zions back country. I say breathtaking for three reasons. 1 - because it is amazingly beautiful, 2 -the water is so freezing it really does take your breath away (I am just now posting this because I finally stopped shaking and got the feeling back in two of my fingers), and 3- when hiking back out of the canyon (if you are like me) you can't breath because you are out of shape and it isn't easy. Please enjoy the pictures -thank you Kerry. (And thanks as always to mom who had the kids ALL day.)

Nice pictures. I've never hiked it but have heard (and seen) how beautiful it is. I'm sure it was a nice date!

Loved the pictures. Question: Why do you always look cute? Even when drenched you look darling.

Carol, you are too kind. No wonder people love being around you. Clearly your eye sight is getting worse with age and these pictures are not close ups.

All I can think is Impact, ropes courses, and jumping off perches to grab onto suspended rings. I vote 4.

Loved the pics and you do look fabulous...Mug's old but her eyes must still be sharp.

It really is fun to look at pictures of someone who is always perfect! How do you do it and how fun does that place look! Because of the lack of interest from the husband on hiking - I am excited to have a 12 year old that loves it! I want to take him there right now! Where is it?

That is how I feel when I look at your pictures! The hike is in the back country of Zions. You have to get a permit from Zions becuase they only allow like 20 people a day and you can only go during certain times of the year because of flood danger. Alec would love it. The first time I hiked it was with our scout group about 7 years ago. They loved all the water, rock climbing, ropes and all that outdoor boy stuff! Come down next summer and we can go together. We can drag Jeremy there somehow.

We are so on! Don't forget me in a year. How long does it take to get a permit? I just promised Alec a hike a week, it seems I have forgotten how close we are to all the beautiful trails in UT! I thought I should probably show him. We should be good enough to tackle the Subway next summer if we stick to it! Jer is just being a sissy lately. He'll be ready.

Don't forget her in a year? One or both of you is trying to mess with me right now.

Corbie, I already assumed you would be there. I'm sure Marti did too! My sissy husband needs yours to talk baby talk with him. Plus, we wouldn't do anything without the queen of real country with us. We know who makes life better!
(I wouldn't mess with you today)

Oh, you guys can plan hikes without me all you want...you think I am going to work out? I thought you were saying that you wouldnt't be seeing each other for a year and I am just saying that you both have a date with me and my 4Runner :)
